Who it is for

SOC, detection engineering and incident response teams, plus vendors selling agentic security tooling around open models.

Why now

This window supplied both the demand and the demonstrated pipeline: an open-model agentic loop (orchestrator plus fine-tuned detection author) improved mean backtest detection from 16.5% to 41.9% and produced gold detections covering all eight unseen attacks while no frontier system met the gold criteria; outside the lab, exploit probes are reported within ten minutes of patch discussion; and patch volume more than doubled with AI-assisted discovery credited. A year ago open models were not good enough for detection authoring and the attack acceleration was not measurable; both changed together.

What would kill it

Hosted providers ship a sanctioned forensic input mode that lets investigators analyze live malicious content under audit, removing the operational need for locally runnable models — or independent multi-scenario evaluation shows open detection-authoring pipelines do not beat existing rule-based engineering outside a single scenario.
