Who it is for

Application teams that previously treated long context as a premium feature, and serving teams who must decide placement rather than just model.

Why now

Between 2026-09-02 and 09-10 the eviction-critical-path assumption was removed, the repeated-context price changed by three quarters, memory residency and partitioning became queryable from the platform, and a vendor benchmark published a conditional decision framework rather than a headline multiplier — so the cost curve is moving downward while the conditions on which it moves are now documented.

What would kill it

Independent end-to-end measurement showing quality at very long context collapses outside prefix-cache-hit workloads, or that these kernels, eviction policies and placement modes deliver their gains only at settings production traffic never reaches.
