Who it is for
Product teams pricing agent features, and infrastructure vendors selling serving efficiency, failover and cost control.
Why now
The price floor and the serving stack moved together in this window: a flagship tier was cut 80% and the cost of prior-frontier-level intelligence fell roughly 13x in four months while open weights closed enough that most agentic workloads no longer need frontier models; a frontier release cut cache-read prices 75%; a shadow-engine design cut failover from 283s to 7.3s; multimodal encode-prefill-decode disaggregation reported 58%/50% TTFT reductions and a 70% goodput gain in its best case; and a fully open 2B recipe claimed under $6.9K of actual pretraining compute. A year ago bundling agent labor required assuming continued price declines; now the declines are observed and the residual cost is an operating decision.
What would kill it
Evidence that quality per completed task at the low-cost operating point does not clear production bars on non-trivial workflows, so buyers keep paying frontier prices for real tasks and bundling economics never arrive.
