Who it is for

Post-training teams without frontier compute or a verifier for their target task; tooling vendors selling reward/rubric design rather than data collection.

Why now

Three methods in the 2026-09-05 to 09-09 window removed a different dependency each (checker, trusted self-guidance, query diversity), and a 122B terminal-agent result on 2026-09-11 shows the verifier-grounded path still winning where a shell verifier exists — so the choice between the two regimes is now a task-property decision rather than a capability gap, and can be made deliberately.

What would kill it

An independent replication showing rubric-redistributed or pseudo-label RL gains do not transfer to a second domain, or that they depend on a frontier judge to author the rubrics — which reimports the cost these methods claim to remove.
